Unaffected by Atlantic's Hurricane
Cruises schedules are not being affected by the first twister
of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season, one commentator has
claimed. Also, Indonesia cruises unaffected by hurricane on
East Nusa Tenggara Ocean. Wave on Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi
reach 6 meters with wind speed until 40 miles per hour.
Cruise itineraries were not affected as Bertha, the first
hurricane of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season, threatened
but never touched the outward islands of the Caribbean and
Bermuda.
Bertha formed last week and became a hurricane Monday about
845 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands in the Caribbean.
This morning, the center said the storm's winds had decreased
to 105 mph as it moved northwest.
The National Hurricane Centre recently measured the first
hurricane of the season’s winds at 120 miles per hour.
One commentator however expressed concern that Caribbean
Princess could find her itinerary affected by some wind from
the hurricane.
However, another reader responded that the news was "excellent
… for everyone who may have been in Bertha’s path–both
island dwellers and cruisers".
"It is still too early to determine the extent to which
Bertha could impact Bermuda. Interests on that island should
closely monitor the progress of Bertha during the next several
days," the National Hurricane Centre advises, according
to the AFP.
